Joan Kuyek will share the results of her investigation of Hunter Dickinson Inc. (HDI), the company behind the Sisson mine proposed to be built in the Nashwaak watershed on unceded Wolastoq territory. The long-term outcomes of HDI projects have not been good news for investors, for communities, for governments or for the environment.

A founder of MiningWatch Canada, Dr. Joan Kuyek is a long-time analyst and advocate for mine-affected communities in Canada and abroad. Joan has decades of experience with community economic development. She chairs Ontarians for a Just Accountable Mineral Strategy and teaches at Carleton University. She is the author of two books on community organizing. She holds an honorary doctorate from Laurentian University.
