Webinar: Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and Metabolic Disruption
Wednesday 01 July 2020 - 02:00pm - Wednesday 01 July 2020
Obesity is a worldwide pandemic that also contributes to the increased incidence of other diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Increased obesity is generally ascribed to positive energy balance. However, recent findings suggest that exposure to certain endocrine-disrupting chemicals during critical windows of development may play an important role in the current obesity trends. Several experimental approaches, from in vitro cell cultures to transgenerational in vivo studies, are used to better understand their mechanisms of action. Drs. Chris Kassotis and Raquel Chamorro-Garcia will discuss the current state of the field and their contribution to it.

The YESS webinar series is sponsored by the Healthy Environment and Endocrine Disruptor Strategies (HEEDS) Mentoring Working Group and coordinated by the Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE). This series will feature speakers in the early stages of their careers, such as PhD students, post-docs, and other early-career researchers who study endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). They will present their research projects and findings on webinars with 2-3 speakers and time for questions. Presentations will be recorded and available online.

This webinar will be moderated by Sarah Howard, MS, Founder and Manager, DiabetesandEnvironment.org. It will last for 60 minutes and will be recorded for our call and webinar archive. If you are interested in presenting on one of these webinars, or have a recommendation for a speaker, please contact HEEDS.
