Highlights:

The Entrepreneurial community school- Kids run their own school cafeteria : Rachel Schofield, community agent coordinator at school district 11, will explain how they took control of the school cafeteria at Cocagne primary school and worked together with the local community to market the garden’s harvest.

Daniel Mallet will explain how his school « la rivière de Pokemouche » is collaborating with the community and was successfull in establishing a composting program, a community garden and trails along the river. Accompanied by two students, he will provide a portrait of the evolution of this exciting and inviting project for the whole community.

The Gaia Project is a New Brunswick-based non-profit organisation dedicated to delivering interactive projects in sustainable engineering within schools. These projects see students posing questions about sustainability, researching consumption and later recommending and implementing solutions within their schools, with the teacher acting as a facilitator to this process. All projects incorporate what The Gaia Project calls realistic environmentalism, where solutions consider technological, social, environmental and economic perspectives.

Collaborating for sustainability – Learn cutting edge techniques of efficient collaboration in a creative and inspiring way. We will explore the « open space » technique as well as the « Asset Mapping » model.

Learn from youth how to collaborate – A High school environmental committee will share their experience on collaboration and give tips from the “generation Z” perspective.

Sustainability education book fair– Bring your preferred books on the subject and discover new favorites.

The Sustainability education alliance is a collaborative effort of over 70 groups. This conference is an opportunity for us to share skills and passions. Anybody interested in the cause of environmental education is welcome to attend this exciting bi-annual event!
